A Game of Thrones: Chapter 1
Bran seems to be an adorable little boy, who aspires to be like his pop and his brothers. 7-year-old Bran seems excited to finally be able to go to a beheading (Seems a little more intense than Rugrats). I'm 99% sure that the man beheaded is the dwarf-man-thing, Gared, from the prologue. I feel bad for Gared. No man's head should ever be used for a soccer ball!
I like all of Bran's family so far, minus Theon Greyjerk. They all seem mature for their age. I find myself worrying that Bran is going to die. What significance could a small child play in a big boy book, other than die and make us sad? Martin already killed my beloved Will, I wouldn't put it past him to be a child killer as well!
The family seems worried that there is a dire wolf south of the 'Wall.' I like Jon, but I feel that suggesting the family should keep dire fucking wolves as pets is a little... dangerous? They should be more worried about the zombie pups they're adopting than the dead one. I bet the wolves will either be saviors or evil.
If I was Bran's father, id be more focused on domesticating the stag that killed the dire wolf. I'd feel a lot safer with Diego the Domesticated Deer protecting the 'Wall' then men like Gared, Royce, and Will.
A Game of Thrones: Prologue
I take an early liking to Will. When I start reading I anticipate he will be a main character (I later learned I suck at predicting Martin's outcomes). Royce is a cocky ass and I picture Gared to be a dwarf with deteriorating body parts.
I find Martins writing to be rich and detailed early on. I'm excited to learn of the "Wildlings."
My happiest moment in this beginning chapter is when Royce gets his ass whooped like a white guys racing against a Kenyan (terrible analogy). This may just be me, but if I saw a mofo walking towards me at night and he had some unhumanly-like features, I wouldn't wanna sword dance. It made me happy, in a sadistic way, that Royce got killed. He was a big ol' dick and it wasn't surprising to me when Martin got rid of him.
Two things did surprise me after this, however. One, I was not expecting Will to die (I'm assuming he did); two, why the hell did Will get out of the tree? If I saw that shit go down, I'd more willingly freeze to death in the tree.
I'm assuming Gared is still watching over the horses, like a good little dwarf-man-thing.
I'm excited to read on!

My First Novel
This first novel I have selected is A Game of Thrones. It is the first book of the A Song of Ice and Fire series.
I selected this book because a lot of people have stated that it is one of the best fantasy series around.
We shall soon see!

My Quest Begins
I have recently become determined to indulge myself in fantasy literature. The epicness of day dream and imagination has finally overcome me and I now have a strong desire to read as many fantasy novels as possible.
I have always loved fantasy movies, folklore, and urban legends; but I have NEVER read a fantasy novel. Crazy right? I say this, meaning I have never read one for pleasure. I'm sure during my school years I've read a few and just don't remember.
I've decided to start this blog to document my visits into the realm of fantasy. I'm hoping that if you're reading this, you love the fantasy genre too and you'll want to join in on conversations on the novel i'm reading or make suggestions on what books I should read next!
Wish me luck!
